UK Trade and Investment team in the British Embassy Bahrain

The Kingdom of Bahrain is a small yet diverse and dynamic market, strategically located in the northern Gulf.  Although an island, it has a road connection to the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via the 25km King Fahad Causeway.  A new causeway is currently being redesigned to connect the Kingdom of Bahrain by road and potentially rail to Qatar via the 40km Friendship Causeway.  This is scheduled for completion in 2013.

Bahrain has been a leading centre within the Gulf region for financial services since the 1980s.  In particular, there is a high concentraion of Islamic banks and other Islamic financial institutions based in Bahrain.  As such, financial services is a priority sector for UK Trade & Investment in Bahrain.
