Second Bahrain-UK Technical Experts Committee Meeting (27/10/2009)
H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance, and Lord Davies, British Minister of State for Trade, Investment and Small Business, chaired the second meeting of the Bahrain - United Kingdom Technical Experts Committee, held earlier today in London.
Issues discussed during the meeting included the possible negotiation of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between the two countries, co-operation on capital markets and in the insurance sector as well as other tax and budgetary issues.
Both sides reviewed possible co-operation in training and the civil aviation sector and the expansion of Bahrain International Airport.
Global issues tackled during the meeting included Islamic finance, global/national financial market regulation, climate change and renewable energy.
The Bahrain delegation included a number of MOF officials and representatives of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Bahrain Airport Company, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company "Mumtalakat" and the Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment & Wildlife.
